From June 1st to 2nd 2017, professors and doctoral students from Drexel University Biologically-Inspired & Resource-Conserving Advanced Materials (BRAVE) group and Neuro-Inflammation and Gender Research Program (NGRP) visited ShanghaiTech and participated in the ShanghaiTech-Drexel Joint Research Workshop. The goal of the workshop is to identify potential field of cooperation based on an in-depth understanding of the research areas of participating scientists from both universities.
On the first day of the workshop, Julie Mostov, Senior Vice Provost for Global Initiatives and Aleister Saunders, Senior Vice Provost for Research introduced the international programs and research landscape of Drexel, followed by an overview of ShanghaiTech by Vice President Jinkang Gong and introduction of Schools and research institutions at ShanghaiTech. Then the two groups held parallel meetings with their ShanghaiTech counterparts of SPST, SLST and SIST to visit labs and discuss in details on collaboration possibilities. The Drexel groups also visited National Protein Center and Shanghai Synchrotron Radiation Facility.
President Jiang Mianheng met with the group and anticipated that the meeting would be productive and lead to more ShanghaiTech-Drexel research cooperation in the future.
