On June 5th 2018, Mr. Heng Swee Keat, Minister of Finance of Singapore, visited ShanghaiTech and met with President Jiang Mianheng. In the meeting, Provost and Vice President Yin Jie presented ShanghaiTech’s new developments. Minister Heng was very interested in the research and educational collaboration between ShanghaiTech and Chinese Academy of Sciences. Meanwhile, President Jiang learned from the Minister about Singapore’s higher education system and said he looks forward to more cooperation with Singaporean universities.
Minister Heng then visited the VR Lab in the School of Information Science and Technology and had a full demonstration of virtual reality experience with SIST Vice Dean Professor Yu Jingyi. He was also given a detailed introduction of the research and tech-transfer of School of Life Science and Technology and the two research institutes.
