On August 21, the 2022 newly admitted undergraduates arrived at ShanghaiTech and started their first day of university life. This year, a total of 473 freshmen from 14 provinces and 4 municipalities were enrolled to 11 majors. The average admission scores across China this year hit record high, making ShanghaiTech among the most selective universities in China. The Class of 2026 showed great talent in science and engineering, strong competence in innovation and critical thinking and all-rounded personal development. In the orientation weeks, freshmen will attend talks on course registration, Covid-19 prevention, and university policies and regulations. All freshmen are required to take part in one-week military training to grow team spirit and self-discipline.
