Speaker: Professor XU Tao, School of Chemical Science and Engineering, Tongji University (Tongji)
Date and time: 16:00–17:00, March 17
Venue: Room 105, #5 Building of SPST
Host: GAO Dewei
Abstract:
The transformation of carbonyl compounds is an important research topic in organic synthesis. However, the studies on deoxygenative reactions are still very challenging. This talk will introduce some novel conversions in this field via the strategy of deoxygenative difuncitionalization of carbonyls (DODC) developed by XU's group. Meanwhile, several asymmetric reductive cross-couplings under a dual nickel/photoredox catalysis system will also be reported.
Biography:
Prof. XU Tao received a B.S. degree at East China University of Science and Technology in 2007. Afterwards, he continued his studies at Shanghai Institute of Organic Chemistry, CAS. After graduation, he worked in WuXi AppTec Company, Ltd for one year. In 2013, he started his postdoctoral research at École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL).
