The world’s first list of Chinese Young Female Scholars in AI, released by Baidu, was announced recently. A list of 80 top young Chinese female scholars from around the world, who have made outstanding contributions in the field of AI, were selected. Assistant Professor Wang Jingya of SIST is on the list.

The list was formed through big data mining and automated assessment technology, based on three assessment dimensions: academic level, academic influence, and academic potential. It also takes other factors for references including the scholars’ scientific achievements, classification standards of the China Computer Federation, global attention on frontier disciplines, as well as the suggestions of other scholars and experts.

Dr. Wang Jingya earned her Ph.D. degree from Queen Mary University of London. She joined ShanghaiTech in 2020, and has been engaged in the research of computer vision, machine learning, and artificial intelligence. Her research interests focus mainly on human-centered visual perception, reasoning and decision-making. She aims to promote the collaboration between human and machine by the combination of deep learning. Currently, she is focusing on the application of computer vision in the field of human-computer interaction, which includes human-object interaction understanding, 3D human pose estimation, and reconstruction of hand-object interaction. These technologies have broad application potential in fields such as human-machine collaboration, augmented reality, and robot vision.

ShanghaiTech is committed to building a first-class faculty team and providing a solid platform for young faculty to promote their career development. An increasing number of female scholars are emerging, demonstrating She Power and conducting influential achievements, thereby playing a pivotal role in the development of the university.
