Collaboration across fields to improve quality of writing at various stages before publication.
帮助人文学院年轻学者提高出版成绩,尤其是专著成果
Supporting the publication efforts of junior colleagues in the Institute of Humanities, especially those who are moving ahead with their monographs.
增进人文学院教师与其它部门的教师队伍之间的跨学科对话,培养多角度思考的综合能力 。
Fostering interdisciplinary dialogues between Institute of Humanities and faculty members of other disciplines at ShanghaiTech, integrating diverse perspectives.

Providing ethical and intellectual grounding for a potential culminating annual forum.

会议形式
ABOUT THE MEETINGS
自愿参加原则。但是人文学院有英文发表任务的教师强烈推荐参加。
Non-compulsory but strongly recommended for Humanities faculty members who publish in English.
执行主席征集文章并召集会议。会议的频率基于征集文章的情况灵活掌握。理想中每三到四周开一次会议。
Acting Chair will collect and select five papers in advance and convene the meetings. Frequency of the meetings depends on how many proposals we collect. Ideally, the meetings will take place every three weeks or per month.
每次会议前一周,发表人将未曾发表过的20-40页(双倍行距)的论文或章节发送至固定平台(有密码保护)。只有注册的会员有资格下载文章。每次会议只接受十五人注册,对议题有兴趣者请尽快点击注册为会员,并保证出席。未经作者同意,会员不应与非会员分享文章。
One week before the meeting, a paper of 20-40 pages (double-spaced) shall be uploaded to a password-protected website. Only 15 registered members will be able to download papers. Please click the link below and register as soon as possible. No one should circulate the paper without the permission of the author.
会议由执行主席主持。参会者应在会议前读完论文。作者将发表20分钟的总结。并由指定的评议人做10分钟回应。继之以与会者自由讨论。会议时长共90分钟。
Acting Chair will moderate the meeting. Participants are expected to read the paper before the meeting begins. The author will first deliver a 20-min summary, followed by a 10-min speech by a respondent. An open discussion will ensue.
开会地点在人文学院,提供茶歇。
Location: Room E200 of SCA. Refreshments will be provided.

The Humanist Writing workshop series are open to all ShanghaiTech faculty.
On March 11, the inaugural workshop in the series will feature Dr. Xu Peng’s essay, “The Courtesan’s ‘Role Portrait’: Brothel Performances and the Qiu Ying Models in Late Ming Suzhou.” Dr. Igor Fedyukin (ShanghaiTech) and Dr. Hyun Suk Park (UCLA, online participation) will be discussants.
