Collaboration across fields to improve quality of writing at various stages before publication.

Supporting  the publication efforts of junior colleagues in the Institute of Humanities,  especially those who are moving ahead with their monographs.

Fostering  interdisciplinary dialogues between  Institute of Humanities and faculty members  of other disciplines at ShanghaiTech, integrating diverse perspectives.

Providing ethical and intellectual grounding for a potential culminating annual forum.

We  believe that global problems can be solved through finding common  grounds across disciplinary boundaries. We believe in interdisciplinary  dialogues in fostering productivity in research and discovery.

 ABOUT THE MEETINGS

Non-compulsory but strongly recommended for Humanities faculty members who publish in English.

Acting  Chair will collect and select five papers in advance and convene the  meetings. Frequency of the meetings depends on how many proposals we  collect. Ideally, the meetings will take place every three weeks or per  month.

One  week before the meeting, a paper of 20-40 pages (double-spaced) shall  be uploaded to a password-protected website. Only 15 registered members  will be able to download papers. Please click the link below and  register as soon as possible. No one should circulate the paper without  the permission of the author.

Acting  Chair will moderate the meeting. Participants are expected to read the  paper before the meeting begins. The author will first deliver a 20-min  summary, followed by a 10-min speech by a respondent. An open discussion  will ensue.

Location: Room E200 of SCA. Refreshments will be provided.
