Delegation of The Hebrew University of Jerusalem visits ShanghaiTech University

Led by Oron Shagrir, vice president of The Hebrew University of Jerusalem (HUJI), a delegation from HUJI visited ShanghaiTech University on December 4. Jiang Ge, vice president of ShanghaiTech, warmly welcomed the guests. The visit aimed to deepen collaboration in areas including faculty and student exchanges and research projects.

During the meeting, Jiang highlighted the progress made since the two universities signed a Memorandum of Understanding in June 2022, focusing on student exchanges and research collaborations. Shagrir provided an overview of HUJI’s history, discipline settings, and technology transfer initiatives, while inviting ShanghaiTech’s representatives to visit HUJI in the future. Both universities expressed a strong commitment to expanding their partnership into new areas.


This visit marked Shagrir’s first visit to ShanghaiTech. Before the meeting, the delegation toured the School of Life Science and Technology (SLST), the Institute of Mathematical Sciences (IMS), the Institute of Humanities (IH), and the School of Biomedical Engineering (BME). The delegation gained insight into the academic focus of these institutions and was thoroughly impressed by ShanghaiTech’s achievements in student cultivation, scientific research, and technology transfer.
