The 6th Workshop for Topological Quantum Materials and Information (WTQI-2024), jointly organized by the Laboratory for Topological Physics (LTP) of the School of Physical Science and Technology (SPST) at ShanghaiTech University, the Kavli Institute of Theoretical Science (KITS), and the Institute of Physics, Chinese Academy of Sciences (IOPCAS), was held at SPST from December 19 to 20, 2024.

As a flagship international conference in the field of topological quantum, WTQI-2024 attracted over 200 participants from more than 40 institutions worldwide. Portions of the discussions were livestreamed, garnering over 27,700 online views.

Over two days, the conference spotlighted cutting-edge topics on topological quantum materials and information. Researchers exchanged insights on key areas, including topological materials, topological theory, spectroscopy and transport characterizations, topological superconductivity, quantum computation, and electronic and spintronic devices. A total of 28 leading experts from renowned research institutes delivered exclusive presentations. They were from Princeton University, University of Oxford, Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, Tsinghua University, Peking University, Fudan University, Shanghai Jiao Tong University, Tsung-Dao Lee Institute, Zhejiang University, Nanjing University, Shanghai University, Huazhong University of Science and Technology, Southern University of Science and Technology, Beijing Academy of Quantum Information Sciences, ShanghaiTech University, KITS, and IOPCAS.

For the first time, WTQI introduced a poster presentation session, with 22 posters on display. Three posters were recognized as outstanding posters.

The success of WTQI-2024 was made possible by the strong support of ShanghaiTech and its co-organizers. The workshop provided a platform for researchers to present and discuss, and contributed to the LTP’s continued growth. Discussions at the workshop had a significant and positive impact on advancing research in topological quantum materials and information. Furthermore, the workshop laid a solid foundation for future collaborations, student training, and the next phase of LTP’s development.
