They reported on progress across various university initiatives and outlined key priorities for the year.
The meeting featured a conferral of tenure and promotion, awarding of outstanding residential college mentors for the 2024–2025 academic year, and introductions of newly-joined professors.
President Feng Donglai extended congratulations to the professors who were promoted and those recognized as outstanding residential college mentors, and warmly welcomed the newly-joined professors. He noted that, through the collective efforts of the university community, the university had maintained stable and orderly operations over the past year, achieving expected progress in all areas. He emphasized that ShanghaiTech has always regarded education as its fundamental mission, with cultivating top-tier innovative and entrepreneurial students as its highest priority.

Over the 12 years since its founding, the university has developed a distinctive human resources system with excellence, a flat and efficient organization structure, a scientific and democratic academic environment, and an open and progressive spirit—these represent ShanghaiTech’s unique cultural feature and serve as the crucial foundation for achieving high-quality development. Looking ahead, President Feng stressed the need for an outward-oriented approach: actively expanding academic exchanges, securing external resources, attracting outstanding people, and more proactively meeting the national strategic scientific and technological demands. This will provide stronger policy support and resource assurance for the growth and success of the community.
Recently, 12 faculty members successfully passed the tenure evaluation, with 11 promoted to tenured associate professor and one to tenured professor. During the conferral, President Feng Donglai and Vice President Yin Jie jointly presented appointment certificates and took group photos with the faculty. After their backgrounds and achievements were introduced by the corresponding deans, the newly-promoted professors shared their reflections and valuable insights from their past work experiences. After the conferral, nine newly-joined professors gave brief introductions to themselves, expressing their expectations for teaching and research at the university.
